All buys and donations must happen during the week, we are no longer able to accept them on busy weekend days. Thanks for your understanding during this busy time!

On weekdays, please call ahead or email us before bringing books to our storefront. Depending upon the traffic in store, we might not have capacity for purchasing books. If you have 10 books or less, let us know when you call! A small number is much easier to review and process than, say, several bags or boxes. And, as always, we kindly ask that you not leave books by the front or back doors when we are closed.

Binnacle is always looking to acquire quality used paperbacks in excellent condition, especially in our core categories: literature, philosophy, poetry, political history, graphic novels, etc. We do not have a self-help section, and cannot take textbooks. We do not buy many hardcovers, unless the book has not been released in paperback or is otherwise in high demand.

Especially if you have not sold us books before, we suggest reaching out via email with a list of books or a photo of the stack of spines to give us a sense of what you have (or, if you have many books, the kinds of things you have). This will allow us more time to review and give you an accurate sense of what we can and cannot buy. If you aren’t able to email us in advance, please call before bringing titles into our storefront to confirm a buyer is present and that we have the capacity to review your books.

We're a (very!) small shop and must buy selectively, some titles we just cannot take due to lack of space, it's not personal!
